Got a call from someone using very proper English asking to speak with my dad, only problem is he’s no longer with us.

A bloke calling himself from Cooper Stanley Associates had a chat about Royal Dutch Shell shares. Sounded all posh and proper, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t legit.

I got a call about some shares I supposedly own, with a promise of making 12% profit. Definitely feels like a scam to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be CooperStanley Associates about some shares I supposedly own. I don't hold any shares, so it’s clearly a total scam.

I didn’t pick up since I had no idea who was calling, and then when it ended up on my voicemail, the call just dropped.

I tried calling back but nobody picked up. Seems like other folks have already marked this number as dodgy and not someone you should trust.

Someone rang me saying there was a delay with a report from a firm I supposedly own shares in, asking if I preferred it sent by post or email. But really, they were just verifying public details and fishing for my email address. Sounded pretty convincing and spoke well, so it could fool a few, be careful. Another time, a call began the same way but quickly switched to pushing me with investment tips. Didn’t bother noting the number though.

Got a call supposedly regarding a delayed report from a firm I own shares in, asking if I wanted it sent by post or email. Turns out they’re really just verifying your details (stuff that’s already public) and fishing for your email, likely setting up some scam. They spoke really smoothly, so it felt pretty convincing. Had another call like this before, couldn’t catch the number, which began the same but quickly switched to pushing investment tips. Definitely dodgy stuff.

Totally a scam, don’t trust it.

0203 769 8232 called me out of the blue talking about the value of “shares” I supposedly own! Funny thing, they already had my full name and address, which would make some folks feel a bit at ease. They asked loads of questions too, but I wasn’t buying it. Definitely sounds like one of those dodgy investment scams. I just ended the call right away.

I just got a call from a very polite chap about some Royal Dutch Shares my dad used to have before he passed away. It was my mum who answered, but we’re not too keen on having a chat with him, so I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number.

Got a call on my landline from someone saying they're from Cooper Stanley, talking about some share investment I supposedly have and offering help with it. The bloke sounded really polite and articulate. I just told him I don’t share personal details on calls and wasn’t going to hand over my email address. Felt like a bit of a dodgy investment scam to me.

Got a call from someone saying they were with Cooper Stanley, giving me the usual spiel that's meant for businesses. Didn't hang around for any talk about payment though. Tried ringing the number back later, but it was dead.

Think this might be one of those dodgy investment scams. Be careful if you're getting calls like this!

I got a call from a polite and well-spoken bloke giving me some tips about shareholding stuff. When I mentioned it sounded a tad tricky and asked if he could send me the details in writing to look over, he ended the call almost straight away. To me, that seems like a pretty clear sign. If they were legit, I reckon they wouldn't have any problem writing it down for me.

Got a call from some investment firm, a guy called David. He seemed to know exactly what shares I own and mentioned some deal for long-term investors starting that Thursday. Asked for my email, but I told him to send the details by post instead. He tried insisting on calling back but when I said no more calls and to just post it, he finally backed off. Sounded very polite and quite convincing. Funny how he even knew I’m retired!

Got a call from a bloke called David, claiming he was from an investment/shares firm. He mentioned the specific shares I own and said there was a special offer for long-term investors starting this Thursday. He asked for my email, but I told him to send the details through the post instead. He kept insisting he’d ring me back, but I made it clear I didn’t want any more calls and to just post it. Eventually he gave up. Was quite polite and sounded genuine, even knew I’m retired!

Got a call out of the blue earlier today.

This caller said they were from an investment firm, offering free advice to shareholders like me who have owned shares for over 15 years. They mentioned details that could only be found on the shareholder list. They claimed their tips had yielded returns of more than 10%. Knowing it’s against the law to give unsolicited investment advice over the phone, I politely turned them down and hung up straight away.

So this number rings me about once or twice every week, and every single time I pick up, the person on the other end is really rude. I look after a 95 year old woman, and I’m starting to feel uneasy that these calls might be some kind of scam trying to trick her or get information from her. It’s worryin’ me because they keep phoning non-stop.
