Today I got a call from a man, sounded Asian, named James, saying something about my Sky maintenance plan needing renewal. Since I don’t actually have Sky, I just played along - I’m a bit older and not too quick with these things. Thankfully, I kept my details to myself and he eventually gave up and ended the call. I’m just wondering, does Sky know about this? If they do, why hasn’t anything been done to stop it? Seems like a lot of folks could get tricked and end up worse off.

Got a call from an Asian woman claiming she was from Sky. She told me my cover was part of my monthly bill (which I don’t even have). Then she said if I paid for one or two years upfront by card, my payments would go down. I told her it sounded dodgy and said I’d ring back later.

I rang the number back and turns out it wasn't Sky at all. Never share your bank or card info over the phone. If you're unsure, always contact Sky yourself using the number on their official website. Don't ever hand over your details unless you've arranged the call beforehand.

Got a call around midday on 27 July 2020, there was a clicking noise and then a pause before a woman with a South Asian accent picked up. When I said "Hello?", she just hung up straight away. Seems like some dodgy scam - I reckon they’ve phoned me loads in the past, probably left notes on my number. So now they just keep calling then drop the call as soon as they see the warning. What a bunch of muppets.

Just got a call like this too, saying my maintenance contract was up. Since I'd only recently swapped out my Sky box on a fresh 18-month deal, I immediately thought it was dodgy. I told the person on the phone that I knew my Sky Q gear belongs to Sky and is just lent to me while I'm paying the subscription, and if anything goes wrong, they fix or replace it as part of the service. The moment I said that, the caller knew I wasn't fooled and hung up straight away without even a proper goodbye. Classic sign of a spammy call if you ask me.
