From what I gather reading others' experiences with this scam, it’s probably an automated caller with a pre-recorded message that, if it detects a human, might either transfer you to a scam centre or mark the number as active to call back later. The bot seems to be either running through a list of numbers or just increasing the last one it dialled and trying that. The number shown isn’t real - it’s faked. The actual scammer and their automated system might not even be based in the UK.

However, he spoke incredibly fast, making it difficult to comprehend his message. In response, I demanded to know his identity and he promptly hung up. I answered with 'Hi'. The person claimed to be from a 'Local Energy Company' and asked if I was the resident. I said yes, and they replied 'Great, that matches our info'(!). If you just say what they want but don’t give any personal details, they ring back from 07423 664608 trying to book a visit to “inspect your loft insulation”. I rang a number that was on the TPS list, thinking it was for a company. Got a pre-recorded message from someone named Chris about home energy, then the call just dropped on me. Proper spam that.

This lad claimed he was Chris from some energy advice firm in Reading, saying folks in my area were having damp and condensation issues in their lofts due to insulation. He was pushing for me to book a survey with an advisor and then asked if I was receiving benefits or anything. Seemed like a dodgy scam to me.

I picked up the phone and all I got was dead silence, then they just ended the call after a little while. Seems like they were maybe looking for someone older who might sound more vulnerable.

Got a call on my home phone today from someone saying "Hey, I'm Chris, the energy advisor for your neighbourhood" and they asked if I owned the house. When I told them no, they just went quiet so I ended the call. After seeing the reviews here, I reckon it’s some kinda scam and that Chris might be a robotic AI or something like that.

Got a call from someone named Chris, he asked if I owned the place then started chatting about energy providers. Next thing I know, he says I’m locked into a contract and just ends the call. Strange!

Got a call asking if I owned the property but didn’t answer. The bloke said his name was Daniel and that he was from an energy comparison firm. I told him I was in a Zoom call, and then he just hung up on me. Blocked the number and gonna report it to the TPS.

Got two calls from this number about insulation, and the person just rattled off some script. I told him I wasn’t interested but he just kept on going, so I ended the call and left it ringing for a bit before hanging up. Five minutes later, they called again. I've blocked the number now.

Got a call from an unknown number. It only lasted about 5 seconds. Our TrueCall system ended the call while screening it. Reported the caller ID to Vodafone so they might block it on their network.
