This is definitely a SCAM! If you get these dodgy calls, you need to report them. Look up ‘Action Fraud’ and head over to ‘police.uk’. Find the section where you can report phishing or scam attempts, and make sure you read all the info carefully. After that, put in all the details of the call or message straight into the police’s system. That’s honestly the best way for them to track how big this problem really is. Don’t ignore it!

Sure, moaning about these scam calls here is easy enough, but why not actually try to stop them? It takes a bit of effort, some personal initiative, and just half an hour of your time. There's a post about four down from this one that explains exactly what steps to take. I gave it a go a few years back and got a pretty interesting reply, though I couldn’t keep up with it. Imagine if every MP got a message from their constituents - maybe then something might finally be done. You’ll get a proper reply from your MP and the relevant government body too.

Somebody rang saying they were from Amazon’s security team, warning me there was a blocked attempt to buy a phone on my account. They asked me to open my email while they kept the line open. When I asked them to confirm they were really from Amazon, they quickly ended the call.

Received a call claiming to be from Amazon, purportedly to confirm a payment of £769. Definitely sounded like a scam - the person had an Asian accent. Be cautious!

About half an hour ago, I got a call from the number 02037691137. Some woman with a foreign accent said she was calling from Amazon and mentioned someone had purchased a phone for £789 using my account. She asked if I could view my emails on my laptop or PC. When I told her I don’t even own a computer or laptop, she said she’d call me again, but I haven’t heard back from her since.

Got a call from some bloke with a really thick South Asian accent, sounded like a call centre. He said he was from Amazon’s security team and told me there was some dodgy activity on my account. Apparently, someone had bought a £400 phone and they’d sent a confirmation email. I just told him to jog on and stop wasting my time - proper nuisance!

Got a call from someone pretending to be Amazon, saying there was a huge charge on my account that happened last night. Since I was about to leave for an appointment, I just hung up on them. Looks like an obvious scam to me.

Got a call from someone with a clear foreign accent saying they were from Amazon Security. They told me someone had tried to set up an Amazon account using my name and asked me to check my emails while they stayed on the line. I told them I hadn’t received anything and that it wasn’t me, so just close the account. They ended the call straight away. Of course, no emails ever turned up. Sounds like one of those hacking scams to me.

I was talking to someone from Amazon through live chat and they told me for sure it’s a scam since Amazon only reaches out to customers by email.

Got a call but no voicemail left, just a quick ring and then they hung up. Loads of similar numbers doing exactly the same thing, for example 02031908791, 02036300912, 02039300474, and quite a few more all with the same pattern of just ringing briefly and then disconnecting. Seems like a whole bunch of these numbers are doing this without leaving any message.

Got a call from a woman claimin to be with Amazon's Security Team. When I asked her "How can I be sure you're really from Amazon?" she just ended the call straight away. Bit fishy if you ask me.

Got a call from a guy named Phil claiming he was with Amazon Security. He told me someone had ordered an iPhone but the payment hadn’t gone through. What annoyed me was that he couldn’t even say what email was on the account! When I asked if it was a scam, he suddenly turned quite cheeky and rude. Proper dodgy if you ask me.

Somebody rang me claiming to be from Amazon and wanted me to verify my bank info. Naturally, I just handed over all my bank details to a total stranger on the phone. She spoke with an Indian accent, which made it seem legit at first. It's a pretty clever trick though, since it's really hard for anyone to track these callers down and stop them.

Someone called saying they were with Amazon, claiming there was an issue with my Amazon Prime account and told me to check on my computer. Thing is, I don’t even have Amazon Prime! I mentioned my computer was being fixed and wasn’t available. When I asked how long the repair would take, the caller just ended the call.

My dad's quite old and this person was really nasty to him. They accused him of lying and basically told him to hang up.
