Got a call from someone saying they were with a PPI claims firm I'd supposedly dealt with. They told me my claim was sorted and some courier would be dropping off the cash. Then they said I needed to check the money and send them commission through Amazon gift cards. Seemed fishy to me.

I got a call from a woman with a really heavy Indian accent. She was quite unsure and kept getting all flustered when I kept asking who exactly she was representing. She kept saying over and over again: “on behalf of HMRC!!”

Someone rang my missus saying she’d been involved in fraud or something, told her to stay on the line and pop down to Morrisons or WH Smith. When I got back she was absolutely shaken up. If I ever track down those ####, they’ll see what real fear looks like.

I just got a call from some scam artists claiming to be HMRC, probably from some gang in India. They’re real good at freaking you out and trying to get you to hand over money on the phone. Don’t fall for it, theres no warrant for your arrest or anything! Total con! Watch out, this kind of scam can mess your life up big time.

What a horrible scam pretending to be HMRC! Honestly, it should be against the law. It’s not the absolute worst scam I’ve encountered, but it’s pretty close. I’ve blocked the number on my mobile, yet the automated voice keeps leaving a voicemail. If you get this, don’t panic - just delete it and block the number straight away.

Got a robo call claiming to be from HMRC. Didn’t stick around long enough to hear the whole thing. Honestly, HMRC normally sends letters, they don’t ring you up unless you’ve sort of agreed to it first. The worst part is if someone vulnerable picks up, these calls could cause a lot of trouble.

This number's been ringing non stop for like a month now. I picked up once, cut them off straight away and told them to take me off their list. Still, they keep calling. Best thing is to just ignore, block and delete it. They do try to bother you from other numbers that look pretty much the same. Proper annoying!

I received a rather dubious voicemail from someone posing as an official from HMRC. The message was in a distinctly American accent, claiming to be from a fictitious Officer Sara Wilson. They insisted it was urgent and warned that I, or my solicitor, needed to get back to them promptly to avoid facing legal repercussions. Quite the alarming ruse, if you ask me!
