I got a call claiming it was a phone company saying I'd won a free Samsung S21 along with six months of free calls and internet. Then they asked for my bank details to “confirm” my identity - as if I'd really hand over that info on the phone! Watch out, it’s definitely a scam.

I got a couple of calls this week from a 044 number, with a voicemail from someone named Steve White claiming to be from HMRC. He said there was some criminal stuff going on linked to me and told me to ring back on 02031378737, saying not to ignore it. Luckily, I looked up the 0203 number online and found out it’s a scam! Glad I checked before calling back.

On 12th October 2020, someone rang me pretending to be from Sky. They said I had a maintenance plan costing £1.99 every month that was about to renew. I quickly knew it was dodgy and told them I’d be reporting it to the cops. After that, the line went dead, so I just ended the call.

I picked up the phone, but it was obvious from the get-go it was a call centre, as there was a bit of a pause before anyone responded. I had my suspicions it was likely just another racket, so I swiftly terminated the call! It could have been something legitimate, but I highly doubted it. Curiosity got the better of me, so I tried to ring them back to catch a company name, but all I got was a recorded spiel about TV repairs or something. To be honest, my telly’s working just fine, so I cut that nonsense short and hung up again!

I told him straight away that if he was legit, he’d know I don’t even have Sky. That’s when he flipped out, started swearing and told me to get lost in the rudest way possible!

Thing is, I’ve never signed up to any Sky insurance. Also, Sky Q stuff doesn’t need insurance since you don't technically own their kit. I told the bloke to jog on, total scam if you ask me.

I got a call from someone named John who said there was a new cheaper offer for sky, and that I needed to update my direct debit info. He asked for my bank details, which felt fishy (definitely a scam). I let him go on for a bit before I stopped him and told him he was trying to commit fraud. I've been with sky for more than three decades, so be careful and don't give these people your bank info!

On the 9th of October, 2020 around 9:40 in the morning, I got a call from 02037690227 regarding renewing my Sky box contract. When I told them it sounded like a scam, the person suddenly started talking in about 4 or 5 different languages. Definitely looks like a dodgy and unsafe call. Cheers.

Got a call from 02037690227 claiming to be from Skye Maintenance asking me to pay £100. They sounded really believable and it threw me off since I wasn’t expecting any bills. Even though I was pretty sure I didn’t owe anything, the call made me second guess myself and I was freaking out for a bit. Eventually, I called Skye directly and they told me it’s definitely a scam. Such a stressful experience!

Got a call saying my Sky warranty had lapsed and they’d sent me a letter about it a couple of months back. I told them I never got anything through. The person on the phone said they couldn’t send the letter again and that my warranty was now cancelled. I asked them to send the documents as I didn’t want to sort this out just by phone. We ended up going back and forth about it and then they just hung up on me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Sky, or maybe he said Sean, could’ve been John though. Had an Indian accent and I struggled to catch what he said, something about charging £8.95 monthly. I don’t even have Sky, so I just ended the call.
