Today, I received a rather unpleasant call from a chap with a pronounced Indian accent who attempted to intimidate me into parting with my cash! He falsely claimed to be an officer with HMRC. I highly recommend that if this number rings you, just block it immediately without hesitation!

These dodgy scammers will use anything they can, from UK landline numbers to random-looking UK mobiles, just to get you to pick up. They even send UK text messages from these strange numbers that I reckon come from their dodgy setup. I think there’s another sneaky trick too, where if they keep you on the phone too long, they might try to hack your phone or charge you somehow. That’s why they always want you to call back missed calls or reply to texts, always saying you’ve won something or need to claim a prize. Just got a call on my really old number now. God sees everything!

Then I figured I’d have a bit of fun, pretending I was really interested in this “free phone upgrade” she was pushing, like she was giving me everything for nothing. When she asked for my bank info, I told her to hang on as I “got it ready”. Left her on hold for ages, but then she just cut me off. Somebody called claiming to be from Carphone Warehouse and asked what phone I was using. I’d just started a new contract with them and had the new Sony XZ3. They then asked if I wanted to upgrade. I said if they really worked for Carphone Warehouse, they’d already have all my info. Don’t know why, but they just ended the call after that.

Got called about 5 times by some place claiming to be car phone warehouse, took our bank info and other stuff saying phone would arrive Monday 29th Oct 18. Never got the phone though, smelt fishy like they were just after our bank details and sadly ended up getting them. These gotta be proper scammers and con artists, they know the UK system so well, definitely more than the cops who dont seem to bother with these crimes anymore. Feels like policing is rubbish now and these fraudsters have a field day, no fear of getting caught at all.

I got a few calls from an Indian lady named Danish Patel claiming to be from Carphone Warehouse’s sales team, trying to push some budget sim-only deal and an upgrade on my current contract. She said I’d have to pay £9.99 upfront, but she promised it’d be given back into my account later. I said no way to sharing my bank info, especially for an upgrade, and then she wanted to put me through to her senior manager. I just ended the call and blocked the number.
