Had a call earlier from a bloke wanting me to hand over some personal details, he was pretty pushy about it. I went along with the survey but when I asked who he was and what the whole thing was about, he said it was to help cut down on spam calls. Then I told him we’re already on the TPS list, so why had he gotten through? He was quite polite, said sorry for bothering me and then hung up. I use a Bt 8500 home phone that’s got a call blocker built in. It stops calls from numbers that aren’t saved in your contacts, so the phone in your house won’t ring if it’s some random number. The phone also saves most of the caller numbers so you can see who tried to call you afterwards if you want.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from a company called "Infotronics." Just as I was in the midst of asking her to take my number off their list and not to ring me again, she abruptly disconnected! Such frustrating behaviour!

I had a similar experience; it appears to be a market research firm. They were exceedingly courteous, yet quite insistent.

Keeps ringing loads but stays silent as soon as I pick up and the answering machine kicks in. I've now marked it as do not pick up on my phone.
