They ring us quite often but are never forthcoming about their purpose; they simply demand to speak with him. We had our initial encounter with this number a fortnight back, when a chap claiming to be James from HR Advisor reached out, inquiring about our managing director. I presumed it was merely a telemarketing attempt, so I dismissed him. Fast forward to today, they rang again and upon reiterating our lack of interest, he insisted that nobody by the name of James was associated with their firm and that he absolutely needed to talk to our MD. The person on the phone asked to speak with a specific staff member and when questioned about the reason, mentioned "Health and Safety" but didn’t provide any company info or extra details. We explained that we manage H&S in-house (guessing she was from a consultancy) but she kept insisting she needed to talk to someone with authority. When we offered to note her number and call her back, she wouldn’t share any contact details or an email. After we said we wanted to look up her company online to verify, she simply said "alright" and hung up.

I've been receiving calls from this number around six times a day for the past three weeks, and it’s becoming quite tiresome. Upon digging a bit deeper, it turns out to be linked to a dodgy outfit called Bleep Play, which has been operating in various shady ways since 2016. They seem to have a sneaky subscription service that charges folks £4.50 a week for some text alerts. Strangely, I’m on a pay-as-you-go tariff with a limited allowance, meaning I shouldn't even be able to sign up for anything without sufficient credit. I'm baffled as to how they landed my number!
