Can I just ask everyone to ring OFCOM on 0300 123 3333? I’ve just lodged a complaint after getting over 400 of these annoying calls in the past few months. Also, don’t bother ringing any numbers they give you back - once I realised things were dodgy, we got a call on our office line but it was actually coming from our fax machine, and I was the only one in the office at the time (I made sure I was alone). Seriously, PLEASE make a complaint to OFCOM or the ICO and TPS.

It seems our contact details get churned through loads of scammer muppets on some kind of dodgy fraud carousel. Luckily, you can block unknown or even spoofed numbers so they don’t keep getting through. I’ve also seen that the calls stop for a bit but then start again with another bunch of those annoying bottom-feeders. Just in the last day, I've had calls from 01227709221 and 03309122817. The 0330 one even tried to pretend to be a limited company that actually got closed down back in 2015!

A bloke called Alex rang me saying he was allowed to check loft spaces to see what insulation was there and offered to upgrade it to newer stuff that could cut heat loss by 20%. It was one of those cold calls again, but I said yes for him to set up an inspection with a nearby firm. I looked up the number on this site and found out it belonged to Alpha Heating Innovation. I got in touch with that company to let them know what was going on. When I tried calling the number back, it just didn’t connect. Hope this helps someone out.

About that post on "recycled numbers," I reckon there's only so many numbers you can block, and once you hit the limit, the oldest one probably gets dropped to fit in the new one. It’s a bit dodgy, ’cause I got calls on both my landline and mobile, like these people had my full details and went way overboard trying to get hold of me. If it was just numbers next to each other, fair enough, but nope. Either that or they’ve got a crazy amount of phone lines, which some poor sod must be supplying, and honestly, both them and Alex are the worst kind of scum.

Received a call on the 15th of February 2022 from someone purporting to represent a company focused on energy efficiency, trying to peddle insulating services. I didn't hesitate to end the conversation before I could get roped into their sales spiel. It's obvious this is a scam!

It’s quite clear these individuals are up to no good. They kept ringing me from various area codes for months last year, regardless of my constant requests for them to leave me alone. And wouldn’t you know it, they’ve resumed their nuisance! The kicker is, now they’ve diversified not only their phone numbers but also the area codes! One moment I’m receiving a call that claims to be from Leeds, and barely days later, it’s the same voice on the line from London. My previous attempts to cut them off were completely in vain. Even when I block those tricky numbers they’ve used before, their calls just slip right through as if I’d done nothing at all!

Not every 020-3 number is dodgy. The Blood Donor service I visit uses one, so I usually pick up even if the rest of the digits change. This particular call, though, was about energy saving and loft insulation. It keeps popping up with different numbers and it’s definitely a con! Like any sensible homeowner, I sorted my loft insulation ages ago with a quick run to Wickes and some help from my brothers. No need for scammers in my life!
