That annoying woman from the States is at it again, telling me not to hang up or they’ll call back. She claimed to be from Her Majesty’s Customs, what a load of rubbish! They always send letters but never actually ring. I even reported them to action fraud, but nothing’s been done. Out of the two times they rang, I was lying in hospital seriously ill with covid-19. They really ought to be locked up.

Got a call at work from some recorded message, sounded like an American lady supposed to be from HMRC, calling me Derrick. Seriously? That’s fishy. They didn’t call my personal phone, just my work line, which already made me suspicious. No mention of any reference number either, another big warning sign. Then they started threatening me with consequences if I didn’t pay up - total red flag. Honestly, if only I could make money from red flags like they want me to do with their fake bill!

dont get caught up in this scam! Some one called me sayin i owe 4,000 quid and that if i dont pay, they will take me to court and put me in jail. I looked this number up online and came across this discussion, so I’ve gone ahead and blocked it. I didn't pick up initially, so I rang back, and the person said they were from HMRC. They asked for my full name, which I gave, but then they requested my National Insurance number. That made me a bit wary, so I asked why they needed it. They told me I had to provide personal info before they could explain the reason for their call - total red flag there. Then they tried to get my address, which also seemed dodgy, but I gave it anyway, thinking it might be harmless. Afterwards, they told me it was very important and that if I got the next question wrong, I'd be locked out of my bank accounts. They asked how many bank accounts I had. I got suspicious at that point and said I didn't believe they were who they claimed to be, so they just hung up. Definitely a scam, best to ignore them like I did.

Got a call when I was tied up, picked up only to hear a robotic voice claiming it was from the DWP. Later, about two hours on, I rang the number back and a person picked up claiming to be from HMRC, asking for my info. I told them I've got the official DWP contacts saved and wasn’t buying it. If you've had a dodgy call, you can report it on the official gov.uk site under ‘report a suspicious call/text/email’. It’s legit and lets you share as much or as little info as you feel comfortable with (fair enough if you're a bit suspicious after the call). The form asks about stuff like whether it was an automated message, any names they threw around, the time they rang, and if they mentioned payment details. After my call, I looked it up on Google while waiting ages to talk to someone genuine at the DWP. Honestly, using that site feels much simpler and might stop others getting caught out. I've already sent in my details about this number.

I got a call from someone saying they were Denis Grey from HMRC but they never gave a ref number, just kept threatening me with legal stuff. So I rang HMRC back on the number I had from a letter ages ago, and they said there was nothing wrong with my tax and didn’t know anything about this scam. Really hope they manage to stop these scams soon.
