Got a call from someone asking specifically for my dad, who passed away a couple of years ago. Weird thing is, they kept using my own number, which my dad never had. The caller claimed to be from some Bullion firm, but it seemed dodgy to me. I reckon they just got hold of a list of older folks who might be easy targets, and possibly someone handling my dad's estate leaked his info alongside my contact. Felt like a total scam.

Absolutely a scam call! They left me a voicemail but the start was chopped off. The message said something along the lines of “this is officer Dennis Grey from HM Revenue and Customs. The issue is really urgent. You need to call 02037445774 immediately. If we don’t get a call from you or your solicitor, legal action will follow. Take care and goodbye.” The voice sounded totally fake, almost like it was computer-generated or something copied from a text-to-speech tool! Proper dodgy.

But when I did ring, they wanted all my personal info, and as soon as I refused, they just cut me off. If you get a call from this number, don’t trust it. Instead, head over to the official government website (www.gov.uk), find the real contact numbers there and call those instead. This way, you can avoid falling for these scams. Legit organisations like HMRC or banks will never ring asking for your personal details or tell you to phone a certain number back.

Just like a few others, I received one of those automated calls saying something about it being urgent with a Dennis Gray name mentioned. The message warned that if neither me or my lawyer respond, there would be legal trouble. Honestly, I thought HMRC usually just send official letters through the post. Definitely blocked that number!
