Got a call from an energy firm and they pretty much assumed I owned the place. The bloke was really sure about it. Thing is, I don’t actually own a house, I’m just staying at my partner’s place. Ended up just putting the phone down on them.

I kept asking which firm he actually worked for but he just kept cutting me off, like he was reading a script or something. Got a call from someone claiming to be Chris, said he was from the energy firm nearby. I ended the call and blocked the number straight away. Then, a few hours later, the same number, 01615322847, called me back with the same spiel. He asked if I owned the house, and when I told him it was a council flat and asked which energy company he worked for, he just hung up. If he was really local, why would he ring from numbers based in London and Manchester when I’m actually nowhere near there? Pretty clear that’s a scam in my book.

Sounds like one of those dodgy energy saving scams. They come off all professional like, saying stuff about being local energy advisors and knowing you own the place. They offer a ‘free’ survey but the minute you question them, they just cut the call. Proper fishy behaviour.

Some bloke called me from this firm, claimed he knew me and said I’d been in some industry stuff, which I definitely haven’t. I told him I’m on the TPS and asked what company he was from, but he just hung up. I phoned him back and warned I’d report it as an abusive call if he didn’t give me the company name. Then he said “Sifi Claims Manchester” or something. Honestly, avoid them like the plague!
