Extremely confrontational. They attempted to assert that they were representing the UK government, warning me that if I didn’t reply, I’d face a fine and a “sheriff” would be knocking at my door the next day!

I can only imagine how distressing such a call could be for someone who’s vulnerable or easily frightened.

When they do bother to utter a word after ringing me, I simply leave them hanging by blasting the radio on speakerphone for a while. Eventually, they seem to lose interest and hang up.
