On Monday, the 15th of February, I received a rather disconcerting automated message from this number, purporting to be from HMRC. They alleged that there was a serious matter involving tax fraud against me. However, as a full-time student, I'm not liable for any taxes. The call suggested that failing to adhere to their instructions could result in my arrest, which was quite alarming. Nevertheless, I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong. I attempted to report it to HMRC, but after being on hold for a tedious thirty minutes, I decided to hang up. I also sent them an email regarding these phishing calls, but as yet, I’ve not heard back. So, do exercise caution with this number and pay attention. If you receive calls from unfamiliar numbers, it's always wise to look them up online. Remember, HMRC would never initiate contact in this manner.
