I received a rather alarming call from someone alleging that I was in trouble for not settling my National Insurance dues, which is rather difficult given that I’m currently out of work. They claimed to have dispatched a letter to me regarding this issue, but I’ve yet to see any such correspondence. Naturally, I requested some form of verification before even considering parting with any funds. They ended up calling me from a number that, incidentally, I found listed on the gov.uk site under the Court of Appeal Civil Division. Strangely enough, that number was flagged as ‘Potential Fraud’. When I pointed this out to them, they promptly ended the call. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

I was feeling a bit bored so decided to play along with a caller claiming to do a lifestyle and shopping survey, but it was completely different. He soon started grilling me for all sorts of private info, even passwords and stuff. I kept him chatting for about 47 minutes, thinking at least I was stopping him from pestering a bunch of other folks. I really can’t stand these sorts of callers, they sound so rehearsed and I’m sure they try to trick older people.
