Lately I just don’t pick up calls on my landline. Instead, I always ring 1471 to find out who’s calling first because I get loads of unknown numbers. This one was unfamiliar, and after hearing the messages, I’m glad I didn’t bother answering.

I got a call from a woman who sounded like she was from China, saying she was ringing on behalf of "Microsoft". She claimed that some dodgy files had been found on my computer and offered to help fix it. I told her I’ve been poorly recently and hadn’t even touched my computer, so I wasn’t going to check it now. She said she’d ring back another time. When I looked at my recent calls, that same number had already tried me a few days earlier. Funny enough, she did know my last name.

I got a call from a woman, so I just hung up straight away like I always do with scam calls. Then she rang me back, claiming she was from Microsoft and my computer had been hacked. When I asked if it was a scam, she put me through to someone more senior. That bloke started being really rude, asking over and again what my problem was. Honestly, it felt pretty threatening even though I’m not one to get fazed easily. I looked up the number on this site and yep, definitely a con.

Received a rather curious call earlier, supposedly from Microsoft, urging me to look at my computer notifications due to potential security issues. The caller inquired if I was Mrs X, to which I promptly responded ‘no’. She insisted I must be her as the computer was allegedly registered under Mr X’s name. I pointed out that it’s entirely possible for people to share a living space without being wed, which seemed to ruffle her feathers a bit! 😂 When I mentioned I didn’t even possess a PC, she pivoted to asking about a laptop instead. It was clear she was merely fishing for information. I remarked that if she truly represented Microsoft, she should be capable of verifying the ownership herself! The lady on the other end was quite abrasive, even calling me an “arsehole” for not complying with her demands. At that point, I lost my cool and let her have it with a string of expletives. She even threatened to terminate my Microsoft subscription. I told her to do one!

He actually knew my name and address and rattled off a couple of serial numbers to prove it was my laptop. Claimed he was ringing from Microsoft HQ in Reading about some dodgy activity detected on my computer. I was a bit bored, so I played along for a while before telling him my computer was locked away in my office and I couldn’t get to it for an hour. He then said he’d ring me back in an hour. Our phone showed this number, but I think our system stopped it from getting through.

I got a call from someone saying she was ‘Olivia’ and claimed it was about a Microsoft computer. She kept asking to speak to the owner, but I had to keep telling her we don’t have any computer like that. Felt like a phishing scam to me, pretty dodgy and risky stuff.

Just had a ring from 02036913153, some bloke calling himself "Robert" saying he was from Microsoft, chatting on about hackers. Sounded like an Indian guy to me. I told him flat out that Microsoft doesn't ring you up out of the blue and that I wasn’t falling for his scam. These scammers from India, whether lads or lasses, are really spoiling the reputation for the honest Indian folks.

I got a call from a lady with an Indian accent who said she was ringing on behalf of Microsoft. She claimed I was listed on some computer owners' register and that there was an issue with my PC. Thing is, I don't have my own computer; I just use one that belongs to someone else. When I asked where she was calling from, she mentioned an address in a business park in Reading, but then she confusingly said she was calling "from here"? Totally felt like a dodgy scam.

Some bloke called Daniel claiming he was from Microsoft, going on about how my computer was full of serious problems. Once I started asking questions, he just hung up on me after a few minutes. Total scam, proper dodgy people.

Got a call from a lady speaking with a foreign accent, asking for my dad even though he passed away not long ago. Then she went on to shout some really rude words at me three times. What a horrible person.

I've received yet another phone call from someone purporting to be from Microsoft, and wouldn’t you know it, it’s the fourth time this week alone! The caller claims to be Indian, which is becoming a rather tiresome pattern.

I received a rather peculiar phone call from someone claiming to be Abigail, and she insists that she’s my husband’s other half. Clearly, it’s a scam!

Got a call from a guy claiming to be Steven at Microsoft, sounded like he had a pretty strong Indian accent. He said there was some issue with my PC. After reading some of the other comments on here, I decided to block the number straight away.

Had a right nuisance of a phone call from some chaps pretending to be from Microsoft. They claimed there were problems with my computer and tried to persuade me to download some suspect software. Being a software engineer myself, I wasn’t born yesterday! There's no way they're pulling the wool over my eyes!

I continuously receive calls from this number claiming to be associated with Microsoft. Honestly, the wisest choice is to simply put the phone down so I don’t squander any time on these annoying telemarketers.

I received a call from this number, but they didn’t leave a message and didn’t bother to identify themselves. Having gone through the comments, it's clear this is likely a scam.

In the past couple of days, I’ve received six calls claiming to be from Microsoft. Earlier today, a chap on the line was quite irate, insisting I had no clue what I was talking about and demanding that I get my laptop and follow his instructions immediately. Well, I decided to hang up on him, but he called back right away, angrily questioning my decision to cut him off. I won’t repeat what I said in the heat of the moment! Just about an hour later, a lady rang from the same outfit; I informed her I was registered with the Telephone Preference Service, to which she replied condescendingly that I was daft since they’re not a scam operation.

It's important to remember that Microsoft never reaches out to customers directly regarding issues - the onus is on us to contact them. This number has been relentless, ringing my landline several times this morning. After I initially dismissed the caller, labelling her a scammer, I decided to answer them again, but only to keep the line open while leaving her on the other end. Her manner was quite confrontational, insisting that she would be fired if I didn't engage with her. Can you believe it? For now, the calls seem to have quieted down, but I’ve no doubt they’ll resume. Once they do, I plan to repeat my little game, perhaps even throwing in a cheeky question about whether she’s had a recent car accident!

Received a call purporting to be from Microsoft’s ‘cyber security’ division-quite a shift from the usual ‘technical support’ calls I’ve been receiving for half a decade now. The accent gave away that it was likely from India, and their aim seemed to be gaining access to my computer under the pretext of showing me a supposed hack. Best to cut the conversation short without delay!

An Asian chap claimed he was calling from Microsoft, insisting that I had issues with my computer. I informed him that I don't own a computer, and he promptly hung up. Definitely a scammer.
