I received a rather alarming message claiming to be from HMRC, stating that a letter would be dispatched to me and that some form of action would be initiated against me. They urged me to press option 1 if I wished to converse with an officer. The chap on the other end promptly introduced himself and requested my full name, of which I only provided part. He then inquired how long I'd been residing in the UK, followed by a request for my national insurance number. I thought it quite ridiculous to hand over such sensitive information over the phone without first verifying his identity, so I declined to share it. At that point, he hung up. I urge everyone to remain vigilant, as there are numerous unscrupulous individuals out there looking to deceive us. Stay safe!
