020 3687 1854 rang me and the call went on for 34 seconds. A bloke with an Indian accent said he was calling from Carphone Warehouse. When I told him I don’t deal with them, he muttered something like he had to check and then just cut off. Looks like I dodged a scam here.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with Carphone Warehouse. They told me I could get an iPhone 12 Pro Max for £30 a month and only had to pay £60 upfront, which they said would be refunded within a day of receiving the phone. They called it a ‘credit check’. When I said Carphone Warehouse normally just takes £1 for a security check, the bloke said it would be “held by my bank” and there was nothing to worry about. Then he quickly handed me over to another guy who said he was his manager. Both guys had really strong Indian accents.

I’ve had this number ring me several times, and each time I pick up the phone, they cut the call the moment I greet them with a ‘hello’. It feels a bit dodgy to me; I suspect it might be a scam of some sort, but really, I can’t say for certain since they’ve never uttered a word!
