I didnt get far into the call as I ended it pretty quick. When I picked up, I couldnt make out who was calling but there was an automated message saying if you are (name), press 1, if not press 2. I just hung up without pressing anything. I did message PayPal yesterday and again this morning about £5 they claim I owe, which seemed odd as there’s nothing showing in my actual PayPal account. From what I can see, my account is all up to date with no outstanding payments.

Got a call saying it was from PayPal, but it was a bit perplexing. Didn’t pick up, just logged into my PayPal account instead. So I rang the number that had contacted me, not the 0800 one they mentioned. When they asked for my date of birth, I put in a fake one but it didn’t go through. I've received an abundance of calls and messages from this number, and I’ve chosen not to respond to any of them. It’s rather troubling to consider how many individuals might have fallen prey to this and inadvertently divulged their personal information.

Totally a scam. Feel sorry for the bloke who said they sent a link in the app, that never happened. I looked into the number and found it forwards from 020 3684 8731 to Pakistan, and it’s just a virtual/cloud number. Don’t share any of your personal info with these people, it’s obviously a fake call pretending to be from PayPal.

Yeah it’s paypal, I got the guy to prove it and he sent me a message through the paypal app from their customer support. He didnt ask for any of my info to do this so yea. I was sketchy about this number at first but it legit is paypal.

I received a call from someone claiming to represent PayPal. They asked me to confirm my email address, but I outright declined, pointing out that as they initiated the call, the onus was on them to provide verification. The caller then insisted I should check my PayPal account for an explanation regarding the call. Upon logging in, however, there was nothing amiss or any indication of the reason for their call. Quite strange!

Dont pick up or respond to this number its a scam. They claim to be from PayPal and ring loads of times. When u call back they start asking for ur bank details. NEVER give any info or respond to them. Im going to report this to the National Fraud Office and National Crime Agency.

I got a call from someone saying they were from PayPal. I didn’t give them any info and quickly opened the app to contact customer service to check if there was any problem. They told me it was definitely a scam. “Sorry for all the trouble, Sophia. If anyone calls pretending to be PayPal and asks for your details, don’t share anything. Just block the number and report it to us so we can deal with it.” I also looked in the Resolution Centre and there’s nothing wrong with my account. Stay clear of this caller, best not to answer at all.

Yeh, it's definitely from paypal. They really ought to not be asking for your personal info, just to ask you to log into your account. Dunno why they gotta do it this way, a normal alert through the app would make way more sense.

I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from PayPal, urging me to verify my email address. I wasn’t particularly keen on sharing any personal details, so I expressed my concerns. They insisted that if I checked the message centre, I could locate their contact information there. When I inquired about the reason for their call, they refused to disclose anything unless I confirmed my details first. At that moment, I decided to hang up, and they haven’t attempted to ring me back since.

It was Paypal alright, they never asked me for any personal info, just told me to have a look at my account for any missed payments. I checked and found some. It’s obvious it’s a call centre overseas but yeah, it’s really Paypal. They just ring to inform you about the outstanding payments, tell you to check your account, and don’t push for any details from you.

Was a bit doubtful at first but it turned out to be the real PayPal payments team. They were following up on a payment I’d missed, looked at my account and saw a direct debit hadn’t gone through for some reason. Rang PayPal on 0800 368 7155 and sorted it all out.

I got a call on both my mobile and my landline today. They bombarded me with a plethora of security questions, but I declined to provide any of that information. When I requested a brief explanation about the purpose of their call, they abruptly ended the conversation. Additionally, if there was any chance this was a scam, wouldn’t they have the decency to send me an email or some sort of correspondence?

Got a call from an Indian guy who knew my name and was asking me stuff I ignored. The way he talked seemed rehearsed, totally like some sort of scam. I've read others here say it's about a missed payment, and when I checked my app, there was definitely a missed payment. Still, I gotta say, it felt really dodgy just because of how unprofessional the call was.
