I encountered a rather dodgy "FIFA lottery" scam. They called me up, claiming I’d struck it rich-allegedly, I’d won a staggering £900,000. The cheque, however, was a pathetic A4 printout, with the details barely legible. And guess what? They had the audacity to include a letter supposedly from the "United Nations," demanding a mere 0.1% of my 'winnings' as a prerequisite for "international banking clearance" in order to transfer the supposed grand sum. The chap on the line had a rather posh London accent, but when I pointed out just how ludicrous this entire setup was, he became quite irate. He started demanding my name and began shouting away in what I suspect was Wolof-some West African lingo! Quite the amusing ordeal, really.

I received a call from a woman with a faint Asian accent, probably of Indian origin, claiming to be from Barclays-at least that’s what I gathered despite the cacophony in the background. When I tried to mention that the noise made it really hard to hear her, she abruptly ended the call after a brief pause without any further conversation. I'm nearly certain that it was a scam.
