Got a call from a polite bloke claiming to be from some washing machine insurance firm, saying my cover was about to end. I asked if it was for my Hotpoint, and he said yes. Thing is, all my appliances are Bosch and fairly new, so I twigged straight away that it was some kind of scam. Told him a few things he probably didn’t want to hear. Does no one in South Yorkshire track these muppets down?

Some bloke rang saying my washing machine cover was running out soon and asked if it was still functioning alright. Then he mentioned a big discount on the insurance and asked if I wanted to pay £66 with my visa debit card. I asked what the company was called, and he said something like home appliances cover. I told him I wasn’t with them and the line just cut off. Crazy really, but I guess some folks must get tricked by this. Hope they nab the guy.

I picked up my work phone and the caller just cut off straight away.

I answered and asked, “Who’s this?” before they just snapped back, “No, you can’t,” and then they ended the call!
