Since the number wasn’t familiar to me, I just let it ring off. Funny enough, the person who tried calling gave some pretty solid tips.

Beware if you get a call from Tesco about a phone upgrade and a sim card sent through DPD. It's a scam. Tesco never ring their customers like that. Stay safe!

Total con job! Got a call from someone with a thick Indian accent pretending to be from Sky, said I owed money on my account. The thing is, I've never even had Sky in the first place. Complete rubbish.

I just got a ring from this number claiming they were Tesco, saying I had to get a new SIM within two days or my phone would just stop working. I only bought a new phone not long ago and Tesco never mentioned anything about needing a new SIM card. This is totally a SCAM, no doubt about it. Don’t trust it!

Had a call from a woman who barely knew any English, and she actually said I had to be put through to the payment department for this to go ahead - obviously a scam! They pretended they were from Tesco Mobile, offering a SIM upgrade or something like that. Total nonsense.

I got loads of calls from a woman named Bella who said she was ringing from Tesco. She kept saying they're switching us over to 5G and that I need to swap my SIM card. Every time I ended the call, she’d ring me straight back. Proper annoying!

Beware of calls from 020 3657 9081! They’ve been ringin’ me non-stop about Tesco Mobile switching to 5G and threatening to lock my SIM in 48 hours if I don’t confirm my email. I played along for a bit, but the person on the line was pretty clueless and couldn’t hold my attention. When I asked for a supervisor, they put me on hold and then came back pretending to be someone else. At that point, I lost it and told them to remove my info since I don’t even use Tesco Mobile, and to go bother someone else with their scam. Total lowlifes!

Got a call from someone saying he was with Sky, offering me a 30% discount. The bloke said his name was Jason, but he definitely sounded Indian. When I asked for proof he was from Sky, he passed me over to another guy called Jordan, who supposedly was Polish, but again sounded Indian. He got nasty, calling me an idiot for arguing, so I told him if he really worked for Sky, the calls would be recorded and he’d get into trouble for swearing at me. He then told me to just hang up but stayed on the line for a bit, before blasting heavy rock music down the phone. Proper weird.

I don’t even use O2 but they tried to con me into buying a new SIM. Honestly, if you get a call like that, play along for a while just to annoy them. When they ask for your email, just say something like “nope [email protected]”. It usually drives them mad and it’s quite funny to hear them lose their rag!

Got a call from some bloke, told him to remove my number but he refused so I ended the call. Then he phoned back, I told him the same and hung up again. Got a call from a number supposedly from O2, but I don't even have O2 on my phone, so I was immediately suspicious it was a scam. I decided to humour them and keep going, and it seems like they're capitalising on the recent merger news to trick unsuspecting folks into doing stuff that’s bound to cause trouble later on. Seems pretty dodgy to me.

They've called me a few times today asking to talk to the 'account holder'. Luckily, I looked up this number here first so I knew what to expect. The call was pretty hard to understand. Their line of chat was something about O2 struggling a lot after joining with Virgin and needing to send me a new SIM card. I said fine, just send it and I’ll pop it in my phone myself. But no, they were keen on doing some sort of ‘verification’ first, which felt a bit off.
