The number 02036 570787 has popped up recently, looks like it’s the latest for XLN now, but with a different voicemail. According to a note from 13 November 2020, calling it gives a message saying it’s XLN Business Telecom about an account, and they tell you to ring 0808 1683092. They ring pretty often, sometimes even a couple times a day, at least several times a week. Best to ignore it since most of the calls are from private homes or businesses that don’t actually have any dealings with XLN.

020 3657 0747 rang saying they were from XLN, the company that provides our business phone. She kept saying our line was off and needed my okay to sort it. I said no thanks and that I’d look into it in the morning and report if there was a problem. She started getting a bit forceful so I just ended the call.

Honestly, I can't understand why folks get so worked up over scam calls. My advice? Just NEVER pick up the landline. They get the hint pretty quick. If it’s someone you actually know or want to talk to, they’ll have your mobile anyway. I just let it ring right through, then use 1471 and check out the number’s history here on this site. Usually, those numbers call just the once, then bugger off to pester someone else who might pick up. Best thing you can do is simply not answer at all - don’t give them the time of day.

0203-657-0794 Landline Took forever before anyone answered, I was just saying hello over and over. When they finally spoke, it sounded like one of those call centres from India saying "Hi, I’m calling about the number you’re using 0207 blah blah correct?" Gave me a really weird vibe so I quickly hung up. A lot of others reckon it’s a scam. To me, it definitely seemed like one but even if it isn’t, I don’t want any more calls from that number.

Got a call from this number today at about 9.45am. Thankfully my landline has a screening feature that makes callers identify themselves before I pick up, but these lot just hung up straight away. Somebody called saying they were from ‘xin telecom’ and wanted to talk to the person responsible for our landline, saying they could offer cheaper phone deals. I told them the person was working remotely and asked them to leave contact info and a website. Then they got quite pushy and rude, insisting on when they could call back to speak to the right person. They just cut off the call without saying goodbye.
