Some bloke named David rang saying he was ringing for Sainsbury's and Tesco. I asked where he was calling from and he said "Sainsbury and Tesco, Swansea" even though it was clearly an international number! When I asked if he could answer some security questions, he just said "Have a nice day sir!" and hung up on me. Total scam, and who knows if it's safe to deal with.

Got a call from 02070 971843, some bloke named Gary said I’d won a £50 voucher for Morrisons, Tesco, or Sainsbury's cause it was their anniversary. He wanted to ask me some questions but I just ended the call. Not really sure what they’re trying to get out of this, and I doubt I'll actually get any voucher even though he seemed to know my postcode.

Some woman with a foreign accent called askin if I was some William person, couldn’t quite catch the name she said tho. I told her I wasn’t. Then she asked if I lived at this address and read out an address with a postcode. I told her no again. She then said, “just give me your last name so I won’t call you again,” and when I refused she just hung up. Bit rude if you ask me haha.

This bloke phoned me but I could barely catch what he was saying. He kept asking loads of random questions and since I was a bit fed up, I started giving him silly answers. Still, he didn’t seem to realise I was just messing about. Eventually, he just gave up and hung up.

If you get live calls, make sure you report them to the ICO, especially if you’re on the TPS. For silent or abandoned calls, let OFCOM know. These spammy callers couldn't care less about posts like this, but they do pay attention when you officially report them, and it only takes a few minutes. Also, if you haven't signed up with the TPS yet, you’re missing a trick. Don’t expect your phone provider to do much either - they’re more interested in selling caller ID features to boost their profits than genuinely blocking nuisance calls.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Unicare, saying I’d won £50 worth of vouchers for Sainsburys or Waitrose. Kept grilling me with loads of questions, constantly asking “Is that right?” clearly fishing for a yes. Skirted around giving straight answers, then they started asking about my BT line and if I own any stocks or shares. Told them enough’s enough and ended the call!

i used to get these calls about 3 or 4 times every day without fail. after about three weeks, i decided to get a new landline that shows who’s calling. next time they rang, i picked up and said, “good morning, windhaven police station.” they immediately hung up, and i haven’t had a single call from them since. it’s been three weeks now and it’s been so much nicer. honestly, it was worth the bit of risk in case things went south.

On 06/03/2017, I got a call at 6.44pm from a lady with an eastern accent. She said something about an "evaluation" and said she was calling from Watford, but the number looked international at first. She kept asking if we had central heating but wouldn’t explain who she was with or why she was calling. I told her we’re on the TPS list and don’t appreciate cold calls. Then I ended the call.

Someone rang me saying I’d won a £25 shopping voucher and that they’d send me a free magazine. They seemed to know where I lived and asked a few simple questions, nothing too personal. They keep ringing my home phone non stop all day and night. I never pick up 'cause they never bother leaving a voicemail. Whenever I get a number that doesn't show my caller ID name, I always look it up online. I'm honestly sick of these annoying calls.

This number is definitely a scam - I got a call claiming I’d won a £50 fuel voucher because I was a loyal BT/Virgin/Sky customer, they didn't seem too clear on which one exactly. They asked for my maiden name, but our account is actually in my husband's name, so it was clearly just a fishing scam. When I mentioned to the woman with an Asian accent that I didn't think it was legit and said I’d hang up, she rudely told me to f*** off. Make sure you sign up for the Telephone Preference Service for free, it stops most of these annoying cold callers.

Woman saying she was from Unicare told me I’d get a £20 voucher to spend at Tesco, Morrisons or Sainsbury’s. When I mentioned that my age was private info and I didn’t want to share it, she just hung up on me.

I received a call from individuals claiming to be representatives of UNICEF. Astonishingly, they were aware of my name and contact information, despite the fact that I’m not listed in any phone directories. My instinct told me something was off and after pressing the caller on their supposed UNICEF connection for the third time, they abruptly hung up. I later reached out to UNICEF directly, and they assured me that they had no relation to that call. I must say, I echo Neil's thoughts-this caller clearly wasn't in a hurry for any emergencies. It makes me wonder if there’s a dodgy scheme at play here. How are they obtaining such sensitive details?

Got a call on our landline a few mins back from a lady who sounded Asian. She somehow knew my name which was a bit worrying. She asked if this was a BT number, but it’s not. I just told her “That’s not right!” and ended the call.

Got a call yesterday arvo saying I'd won a £50 Sainsbury voucher and just had to share a bit info to claim it. I told them straight up it sounded like a scam. They ended the call right after.

I’m totally gutted, got properly caught out. A woman with an Asian-American accent called, soundin’ really nice and full of compliments. She asked loads of questions and, daft as I feel now, I answered them all. I’ve been trying to figure out why I even did that since I usually don’t take cold calls. Maybe it was cos she was so flattering and friendly, made me feel bad to just hang up. Fingers crossed the stuff I told her doesn’t cause me hassle down the line.

If you really wanna stop these scammers, you’ve got to report them to the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office). Just leaving comments here won’t make much difference. I made the mistake of picking up this call since they already had my name and where I live. I ended up telling them quite a bit about what furniture I have, my age group, and if I'm married or not. After I hung up, I felt uneasy and realised I’d been completely tricked. The lady's accent sounded a bit like an American with an Asian touch, and she was really smooth and nice, almost flattering. She totally got me talking and I’m not sure why I did - maybe it was because she was so friendly I didn’t want to sound rude. I’m well annoyed because I usually never pick up unknown numbers. From now on, I’m definitely ignoring these sorts of calls!

I've been getting calls now and then on my landline, which should be off the directory and registered with TPS. They never seem to know the right name, always guessing my address too. I just keep quiet and never share anything personal. The people on the other end speak with an American accent. No clue who these callers actually are.

Got a call from a lady with an Indian accent who said her name was Amy Walker. She claimed she works for some supermarket and said I’d won a £50 voucher for shopping at Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda or Morrisons. She said she’d send the voucher if I gave her some personal details like what kind of property I live in and my job situation. I told her she didn’t need that info just to send a voucher, and then she hung up on me.

someone called saying I could get free petrol and tried to link it to my phone provider. She was really sweet at first but then started talking about PPI. That’s when I just ended the call.
