They ring me nearly every week. I usually don’t pick up, so it just leaves a silent recorded message, but the beep on my answerphone is so bloody annoying. I finally answered today and got this pre-recorded voice saying I’d been in an accident in the last couple of years - which isn’t true! I said “yes” just to see what’d happen next. Then it asked who was driving, so I said “Noddy” as a joke. Suddenly, a real person came on and claimed he was from the UK Advice Bureau, saying the government told them someone at my address had been in a crash recently. I told him he was talking rubbish and then he hung up on me! Why don’t the authorities do anything about these calls? Surely BT could track down who’s behind this. They should be locked up! And what’s the bloody point of the TPS anyway? They do absolutely nothing! Bet they get paid loads for it too. Honestly, can I have their job? I’d do better!

What’s really needed is some serious action from the Government, especially since these calls often target the elderly and those with disabilities. Some weird robotic voice called me, and it wasn’t convincing in the slightest. Sounds like they’re trying to mask the accents of workers from places like India, Pakistan or Indonesia - probably those cheap call centres. This was probably the hundredth time I’ve had that message about an accident supposedly in the last two years. I told ’em flat out I hadn’t had one, but that didn’t seem to register. I explained I did make a claim once, but it wasn’t due to an accident - just a scratch on my car in a poorly lit car park. The bloke who scratched it left his number on my windscreen, we spoke about it, he was decent, his insurance covered all the costs, gave me a loan car, and my insurers were happy about it all. Got a call from a woman named Jessica who wanted to check if anyone here had been in a crash. This was the second call today! When I asked what organisation she was with, she said “Road Traffic Accident Authority.” I told her we’re on the TPS but she wouldn’t even take our number off their list. She was really abrupt and kept pushing for an answer, then just cut me off. Honestly, these calls are so frustrating and something really ought to be done about them.

Got a call saying I'd been in some kind of accident. I asked where they got my details from and they said "Road Traffic Accident Authority". Then I questioned if they really had all that info, like what car I was driving. They went silent for a bit and then said sorry for bothering me and that they'd take my number off their list.
