I got a call from 02034427691 claiming to be from Carphone Warehouse, saying my phone was getting an upgrade. They asked for my account details and sort code, then took £27.45 from my account. They said I’d get a refund once the new phone arrived, which was supposed to be within 48 hours. It’s been ages and still nothing arrived. When I try calling back, it goes straight to voicemail and no one picks up. Very frustrating!

Had a really cheeky American caller ring up my lad who picked up the phone. She wanted to speak to my son but he said he wasn’t in and asked who was calling. She got all sharp and told him he wasn’t Mr, so why was he asking? He calmly told her she’d phoned our house, and he was just checking who it was. She then said it wasn’t his house, it was hers or something. He said, well, we live here, and if she was selling anything, we weren’t interested, cheers. He was about to have his tea and she nasty said she hoped he burnt his mouth. Proper rude woman, number 229? What a cow.

Got a really rude call from an American woman who rang my son. He picked up and she asked for Mr, son said he wasn't in and asked who was calling. She snapped that he’s not Mr so why’s he asking? Son told her she rang our house and he’s just checking who it is. She said it’s not his house, it’s Mr’s. Son said well, we live here and if it’s a sales call we’re not interested, cheers, I’m off to eat. She replied with something like ‘hope you burn your mouth’ or something daft like that. I’m on the do not call list and my number’s unlisted too, but I’m not with BT, so I doubt it’s their fault. They asked straight up for me by my name, so I told them I’d check if I was about... then left the phone off the hook for a bit since I had to ring someone else. A lady with an American accent rang me, said her name was Emily Washington and asked for me by name. She mentioned something about me being a nanny for kids and wanted to call back later. She told me to just say Emily had phoned when I answer next time. I have an ex-directory number and I’m registered with TPS. I’m seriously thinking of switching my phone network because I keep getting these calls and BT doesn’t seem to be doing anything about it.

Received a call from the number 0203 6349891 today, and they had the cheek to address me by my name. This marks the third peculiar call I've had in just three days, each time from a different number. They're claiming I'm due a National Insurance refund of £6000, which seems rather dubious! I ended the conversation promptly.

The phone number is linked to Sambura Communications based in Georgetown, Guyana. Apparently, Ofcom recently issued them a warning for violating communication regulations. They’re still flouting UK law in a couple of ways: firstly, they give out a contact number that you can’t actually get hold of to opt out, and secondly, they keep cold-calling numbers that are registered on the TPS. I got one of these unwanted calls myself not long ago. Personally, I’d steer clear of this dodgy outfit.

Got a random call asking if i was mr x, i asked who was on the line and they just cut off. Its so frustrating that the tps wont deal with complaints unless theres a real company name. They should be able to track calls using the number alone.

Got a call just before 8 in the evening, they asked if I was a particular person. I told them no. Then the caller said their name was Emily and apologised for bothering me. I ended the call quickly. The connection was really poor too.

They called and surprisingly knew my name already. Then they started asking how old I was and said I had a nice voice, which was a bit creepy. They wanted to know who my energy supplier was and even if I struggle to get out of bed in the mornings. Honestly, I wish these calls would just end because now I’m scared to pick up in case it’s something unimportant, but then I might miss an important call!

kept insisting I say who I was, I never asked who was calling about like twenty times then this woman said something about consumer experts. she told one of the other people on the call ‘blimey, what a character here,’ I told her I’m not jesus, she laughed and hung up. they’re just a pestering survey group trying to collect info to pass on to other cold calling scams.

I received a rather odd phone call from a chap named John Henry, who was inquiring whether I had gas installed at my property and expressed a desire to conduct some sort of evaluation. Can you believe it? At 8 in the evening no less, on Tuesday the 9th of December! Is he out of his mind? I told him I wasn’t keen on such matters, and he assured me he wasn't peddling anything. I promptly ended the conversation.

Got a call around 9pm on 12th Dec 2014 from a bloke with an Irish accent. He asked for me by my first and last name, said he wasn’t trying to sell anything but wanted to know if I had central heating. Told him I’m a council tenant and he hung up straight away.
