This caller was one of those ambulance chasers. I mentioned that my phone number is registered with the TPS and that making these calls is actually illegal. She ended up hanging the phone straight away.

I got a call asking for my mum’s name and I told them she wasn’t home since I’m at uni and asked what it was about. The bloke said she’d been in a car crash last year. I said I was pretty sure she hadn’t. Then he goes on about how they paid out for the accident and wanted her own number, not mine. That’s when I hung up. My mum hasn’t been in any accident for over a decade, so this was definitely dodgy. He said he was from First Call or something like that, but none of us have ever dealt with them before. Total scam if you ask me.

A woman rang my phone around 5:45pm asking for my mum’s name. When I asked what it was about, she said she’d been in a car crash two years ago and it was something to do with car insurance. I told her my mum doesn’t even live in the same country as me, so I’m her daughter, not sure why she was calling me. She said sorry and hung up pretty quick. Could be a scam? Feels a bit suspicious, especially since my mum hasn’t had any accidents recently. Probably best to steer clear of this number.
