020 0200 5480 called me with some automated message saying there was a tax fraud lodged in my name and if I didnt answer it would go through and i would get arrested. Then it put me through to a call centre in India, could hear loads of people chatting in the background but they just cut the call straight away.

02038965094 kept calling with automated messages claiming they was from HMRC and saying I had to ring back right away. They even warned me I'd 'face serious consequences' if I didn't. Proper nasty to be making those scary, threatening calls like that.

If you start probing, a lot of these firms will hide behind data protection rules and say they can’t share info right now. Some of these cold callers are outright dishonest about who they are to get your info, but others are pretty confident they can convince you and will even give you their real contact info. However, once you put them on the spot with questions, most will back off and hang up. Blocking these online calls isn’t really effective since they just switch numbers, but jot down the company name and their actual contacts - it might come in handy later.
