Got a dodgy voicemail from a number pretending to be HMRC, saying I was about to get nicked for tax evasion. The message told me to hit 1 quick to dodge any trouble with the law. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

This isnt a scam number itself. Loads of people on here say scammers are faking real computer company's numbers to send out dodgy messages. If you get calls from this, let the real owner know - check out the notice at the top of this page for info. Also make sure you report this number and the scam to the police. Just search 'action fraud' and visit the UK police website. Then head to the phishing report section and scroll down to find the quick reporting form.

I saw something on Facebook warning about these scammers pretending to be from the post office!!! Our post office is called ROYAL MAIL and ive got loads of texts from them for real, so I know these scammers will try anything to scam people out of their cash. The HMRC scammers are proper nasty, they target the elderly and anyone easy to trick.

Watch out, (SCAM), this 020 7977 4735 number has been ringing people round the Mersyside area, including me and a bunch of others I know. They say they’re from HMRC, telling you “there’s fraud on your account and you’ll be arrested soon.” Don’t answer or reply to the call. Just BLOCK IT straight away.

I pressed 1 too and asked who was calling. The person had an Indian accent and was talking super quick. Luckily, they didn’t have any of my info and got quite annoyed when I told them I wasn’t sharing anything and to just email or write to me instead. Proper creepy call.

Had a look below and it’s clear how dodgy these folks are. The best way to shut them down for good is to make sure every single scam call or message gets reported to the police records. Just search for ‘action fraud’, click on the ‘police.uk’ link, head to the ‘reporting’ part and file it as a phishing try. You don’t even need to sign up or anything.
