02036272517 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02036272517 👆 is reported as a persistent scam number linked to fraudulent calls impersonating Microsoft or Windows technical support. Callers often remain silent or hang up abruptly when answered, use automated or aggressive tactics, and attempt to extract personal information or remote access under false pretences of computer problems or hacking threats. Many victims note the calls ignore the UK’s Telephone Preference Service and frequently use spoofed numbers. The consensus is that these are part of organised scam operations, with some callers exhibiting rude or threatening behaviour when challenged. Blocking the number is only a partial solution, as scammers cycle through numerous numbers. Reporting all incidents to Action Fraud and contacting MPs to push for stricter telecom regulations is advised to help combat these ongoing nuisance and fraud attempts.

Got a call from someone called Thomas who said he was from Wise Holdings, but I checked and that company has been reported to Action Fraud for a crypto scam. Funny thing is, Action Fraud hasn't done much about it, at least not yet. He kept pushing me to pay some fees before they would 'release my funds' - total nonsense if you ask me.

Got a call in the middle of the night, around 2 am, saying there was a power cut expected to last 2 hours in a Glasgow area where an elderly family member lives. Bit confused how our phone number came into the picture for their service. The message only said to ring back if we needed more info, so it didn’t really seem like a dodgy scam or anything. Then, just now, another automated message came through about checking that the trip switch was turned on, but it didn’t tell us what to do next, so it feels pretty legit.

This number took ages before someone finally answered, made me suspicious it might be some dodgy overseas scam. I was shocked to see it’s actually a London number, so probably some call centre. A woman did eventually say “Hello” but when I asked why the delay, the caller just hung up without a word. Honestly, I’d advise against sharing any details with them - chances are it’s a scam.

This morning I got a couple of calls from 02036272517 on my landline, but I ignored them since I never pick up unknown numbers. After looking it up here, seems like I was right to be wary - another dodgy scam attempt. We're registered with the TPS as well, but clearly that doesn’t stop these annoying calls. So frustrating!

So, I got a call from someone who already knew my last name, saying they were from Microsoft. The chat went a bit like this: they said there was an issue with either my laptop or desktop. I asked, "Which one exactly?" They then asked how many computers I owned, and I told them around twenty. That’s when they just lost it and called me an idiot before hanging up. For context, I actually do have about twenty PCs, and three run Windows. Recently, I’d been in touch with Microsoft support about upgrading from Windows 10 to 11, so I’m thinking this scam might have come from a leak on their official support side. Planning on reporting it to Microsoft just in case.

As soon as my answering machine picked up, the person on the other end just hung up. Turns out, this number is linked to a scam ring I'm familiar with. It’s a shame how scammers easily find names and addresses from phone books these days.

I reckon they probably just look up info on those directories to find your name and where you live.

You can report fraudsters to loads of different places, but at the end of the day, it’s the police in the scammer’s own country who actually have the power to act. Sadly, a lot of these cops either accept bribes or simply don’t bother with crimes that happen outside their borders - so most cases just get ignored. Even when there's massive media coverage, it’s rare for many scammers to be caught, and even fewer face charges. The best way to fight back is by making sure people know exactly what to watch out for.

Microsoft doesn't make unsolicited calls. You'll need to reach out to them if you want any help or a callback. Their tech support definitely isn't spying on your computer. Scammers try to trick you into giving them remote control of your PC, sometimes even your online banking details, by getting you to install dodgy software. These are scammers, plain and simple. Some even go as far as threatening to involve the police, which is just totally disrespectful and wrong. Best thing is to just hang up, block the number, and let others know about these dodgy calls.

Check the couple of posts down for some tips on tackling these scams and why just blocking numbers might not do the trick. Reporting these incidents doesn’t take more time than putting a message on here. It might seem slow, but unless we all report these dodgy calls and also take it up with our local MPs, the authorities won’t get a full picture of how bad this scam situation really is. The police still haven’t grasped the scale or the newest tricks these crooks are trying. Without us all complaining and reporting, nothing will change to stop these nasty cheats.

02036272517 rang me too, same old trick. There's always this weird pause right after you pick up and then some bloke with a foreign accent starts jabbering about Windows tech support. I just told them 'bibi' and hung up. Pretty sure my phone’s ended up on one of their bait lists somehow. It's annoying but I’m getting used to it now. Also watch out for the so-called BT scams. They'll call AND send a message with a 4-digit pin, asking you to check your email and give them the code. Don’t fall for that, they want to steal your number and use it to con others.

Someone rang claiming to be with Microsoft. They asked if the computer belonged to me and when I said yes, they wanted me to log in so they could fix some supposed 'hacking' problem. My spouse picked up the phone to a bloke with an accent who claimed to represent Microsoft. He was keen to chat with XXX and didn’t bother with any security checks. When my wife mentioned our registration with the Telephone Preference Service, he got quite combative, as if he’d never even heard of it! Upon requesting that he erase our information from whatever list he had, he turned rather nasty, even threatening to cut off our phone line! What’s more, he recited our home address, which was unsettling to say the least. The moment I indicated we were getting the police involved, he hastily hung up.

Whenever I pick up 02036272517, no one says a word. Feels like one of those scam calls to me.

I got a call from an Indian lady the other day. As soon as she picked up, she asked why I was yelling. I told her I didn’t think I was shouting, but she insisted I was. So, I showed her what proper shouting sounded like and told her not to call me again. These people are just a total pain and keep ringing no matter what. I’m already feeling unwell and these annoying calls only make things worse. Most of these calls seem to come from overseas, which doesn’t help either.

Some woman rang, said she was from Windows. She sounded like she was stuck reading from a script or something, asking if I was the “owner of the Windows computer”. Pretty clearly one of those scripted calls.

Seems like a call centre to me. I answered with a hello but got no response, only some heavy breathing on the other end before the line went dead.

Someone called me up claiming I owned their computer and acted like I was the one who had it. Told them I don’t even own a computer and just ended the call.

Received a dodgy call claiming my computer had been compromised, which it hasn’t, mind you! As soon as I ended the call, he rang me back, fuming and demanding to know why I hung up on him. He even threatened to put some kind of block on my machine! How ridiculous!

When I picked up, there was a slight delay before the line connected, which made me suspicious straight away. The person asked if they were speaking to me, even saying my name. I didn’t know who it was and told them I wasn’t interested in their call. I got a call like this just yesterday, claiming there was an issue with my TV service and that my maintenance plan had expired. Without a doubt, this is a scam.

I said "hello" a few times over about 10 seconds but got no reply straight away, which made me suspicious it might be a scam. After that, I told them to ring me later since I was tied up at the moment.

She claimed there was a problem with my Windows, but I told her I’m not daft. Pretty obvious scam to me.

Got a call from 02036272517 earlier claiming there were urgent alerts from my computer. I told them I wasn’t interested, and then he rudely snapped, “You better listen to me.” Definitely best to just ignore this number.

Got a call from an unknown number again today, third time now. Like the others, didn’t leave any voicemail, so pretty sure it’s just another scam.

My landline rang but it went straight to my answerphone. As soon as the message kicked in, the caller just dropped the line. Real callers usually leave a message, so I reckon this one wasn’t genuine.

Phone rang and I just ignored it. Pretty sure it was one of those Microsoft scams again! The TPS register is useless against these annoyances.

I had quite the dodgy encounter recently! Some chancer rang me up claiming to be from Microsoft, insisting that my computer was on the brink of being hacked. He offered to sort it out for me but insisted on getting remote access. Definitely had the whiff of a scam about it!

When I picked up, there was this awkward silence for a bit, then the usual VoIP click sound. I caught some sniffing and breathing noises for a moment just before they ended the call. Honestly, I'm not shocked this number's got such bad reviews.
