Got a call from a lady’s voice who first checked if I could hear her alright, then started talking about solar panels. She asked if I owned my place and what kind it was. Even though I said I wasn’t interested, the call sounded like it was automated. Then she asked for my last name and wanted me to spell it out, followed by asking when someone could come round to give a free estimate. I told her I wasn’t interested again and hung up. This number is now blocked on 1572.

They rang me two times, using different names but the same script. Claimed to be from some solar panel firm saying I qualified for a grant. The first call, I told them I wasn’t interested but they kept pushing. On the second call, I asked if they wanted the house owner and I said I was just a tenant (picked that up from some scam alert advice). As soon as I mentioned that, they hung up right away.

We normally don’t pick up calls from unknown numbers we haven’t saved. We’re signed up to the TPS, though it doesn’t seem to stop these kinds of calls anyway. After reading what others have said here, it’s clear this was just another spam or scam attempt. Blocked the number straight away.

Some person rang me and asked if I could hear them. I stupidly replied yes. Turns out, saying yes can get you caught up in a scam because it’s like agreeing to whatever they wanna pitch. When they brought up solar power, I told them I already have solar panels installed. After that, they just quit and hung up. My advice: if someone calls and asks "can you hear me?", don’t say yes - it’s safer to avoid getting tricked.

This Jane was super polite, asking if I could hear her alright. I think I said yes - that was an error! Told her I’m registered with the TPS, but she claimed I’m on this other database or something. When I mentioned having solar panels, they just cut the call. Sounds like some smart AI scam, like a lot of others have posted about here. Proper clever but also quite scary - feels like a glimpse of the frauds that’ll be hitting us soon.

I could tell right away it was some kind of rip-off, so I played along for a bit, answering their questions. I even gave a fake number from a street nearby that isn’t real. Now I’m just hanging about, seeing if they’ll ring back to book an appointment. If they actually turn up at my place, I’ll just say I’m not interested anymore. Did the same thing with some kitchen salespeople once, and man, it’s quite amusing watching their reaction.

The call started all friendly with a “Can you hear me alright?” then quickly moved to asking if I was the homeowner and if I knew about some sonar panel deal. I just told them I wasn’t interested and hung up straight away - no way was I about to give out my bank info!

I think they’re the same bunch of Indians over here in the UK who’ve been behind loads of scams like the HMRC and Amazon Prime one, plus pretending to be different companies. Probably why they don’t wanna show their real voices, bit too risky for them!

I asked them where they got my details from and the voicebot just threw out some made-up database name. I’m sure it was all rubbish, since I had solar panels put on my roof about four years back and I’m already being paid for the energy I export! They don’t even seem to care about the TPS register either.

Got a call from some posh sounding woman saying she was with a solar company. She asked if I could hear her alright, and I said yes because I was waiting on a call from my GP. Then she started waffling on about nonsense, and it was clear it was a con. I ended up blurting out a few swear words and hung up quick. Now I'm worried I might’ve just given them an in, so next time I’ll just say no but keep them talking instead of being so polite. Absolutely a scam, don’t waste your time chatting to these scammers!

Today, at about 1:47pm on the 12th of January 2024, we received a call from a woman with a really strong English accent. First, she asked if we could hear her alright, then wanted to know if I was the person who owns the house. I kept asking what company she was calling from, but she didn’t say. After a couple of times, she just said thanks for our time and ended the call.

Got a call from a woman little after 3 this afternoon, number didn’t ring any bells. She started talking about solar panels, which immediately set off alarm bells.
