I received a call that I didn’t answer.

Received a rather dodgy phone call today. There was a distinct noise of a call centre buzzing in the background, but no one bothered to introduce themselves or mention which company they represented. The caller just jumped straight in with, "Mr *insert surname here*, we're reaching out regarding your Life Insurance policy." I found it rather fishy since I don’t even have such a policy. When I told them as much, they hung up in a jiffy! Attempting to return the call merely connected me to a robotic voice-an American one at that-saying, "Please hold, and we will connect you to the next available agent," yet still no company was named. Could this be a scam?

Received a call from this number earlier today-an Indian lady on the line. She was rather vague about which company she represented but mentioned something regarding a life insurance policy. When I pressed for the company name, her reply was somewhat evasive; she insisted that she'd only disclose it after I'd answered some of her questions. I challenged her, stating that I would only consider answering any questions once I knew the company she was representing. To that, she simply hung up! Quite surprising, really!
