I received a call from a lady with a distinctly British accent, who rang my elderly father claiming that he was owed a refund for an overcharge. Without hesitation, my father told her outright that he suspected she was trying to pull a fast one, and right then, she abruptly cut off the call.

I didn’t even wait to hear who it was. After the usual awkward pause of about 5 seconds, I heard someone suddenly come through on the line and start speaking. Before they could get a word in, I shouted ‘LEAVE ME ALONE! STOP RINGING THIS NUMBER!’ and then I just ended the call. After that, I reported the number on this site and blocked it straight away. Sorted!

Got a call from a woman who sounded Asian and really uninterested. She kept talking about giving me back £119 I supposedly overpaid for a washing machine warranty I don’t even own. This time the number was different from the one who called me back in March, but I humoured her for a while. Scarily, they already knew my full address! These people are vile and should be stopped, though I have no clue how that’s gonna happen. PLEASE, don’t fall for these awful scams - they’re the worst kind of people!

They've been ringing me up like 5 times over the past week or something. Always the same story about a refund from something to do with a washing machine. I told them to just send me a cheque, but they said they can't do that. Now they want my bank details. Seriously, someone should block this number.

Got a call from a woman claiming to be from abroad, saying I’d overpaid £119 on my washing machine insurance and that they’d refund it. She asked for my address so she could sort it out. I've flagged this phone number as dodgy because it's clearly a scam. Some bloke called claiming he was going to refund me £119 for a home appliance insurance payment that I apparently paid by accident. Thing is, I’ve never had any such insurance and there’s been no money taken from any of my bank accounts. When I told him this and asked what the call was about, he just cut me off straight away. Proper fishy behaviour if you ask me.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent saying he was from Homeserve. He told me I was due a refund for some home appliance insurance and asked for my bank info. I told him he was trying to scam me and he just ended the call. This is the third time today I’ve had calls from what seemed like the same bloke, but from different numbers: 02045204762 and 02045204929. Really annoying!

If the caller ID doesn't show a name, I usually just let it go to voicemail. I don’t bother answering and if there's no message left, I figure it’s probably some sort of scam. Legit people always leave a message anyway, so I ignore them if there’s nothing there.

Got a call from someone who sounded like they were from a call centre abroad, maybe India. They said something about me overpaying for washing machine insurance back in 2020 and that they wanted to refund me. Then they said they’d erased my bank info because of some GDPR rule, and asked me to give them my details again. When I asked which company they worked for or what brand my washing machine was, they couldn’t tell me anything. Definitely a scam, avoid it!

Got a call from some bloke called Harry, claiming he’s from Homecare and says I’ve paid too much on a washing machine warranty. Thing is, I’ve never even had one of those warranties. He somehow knew my full name and address, then tried to get my bank details to sort out the “refund.” This isn’t the first time either, I’ve had like five or six calls just like this.

Received a call from someone who knew my name, claiming I was owed a refund of £190 for overcharging on a washing machine insurance I supposedly had. I informed him I had never taken out such a policy, but he insisted it was included in the deal from the supplier. I expressed my disbelief and he abruptly ended the conversation. Clearly a scam!

Got a call just a bit ago from some woman claiming to be from ao, saying they’d overcharged me and were gonna give me a refund. She asked how I wanted to get it, I said by cheque, and then she just cut the call. These scammers should seriously be locked up. DON’T EVER SHARE YOUR INFO WITH THEM.

I received a call from someone who mentioned my name and expressed regret that they were unable to fix my vacuum cleaner. They then proposed a full refund of £136. When I was asked if I'd like the funds transferred to my current account or savings account, I decided to humour them a little since my vacuum was in perfectly working order. I opted for the current account, but then they claimed they couldn’t take my account details unless I shared them first. In the next moment, they transferred me to another agent who promptly started requesting my banking information. At that point, I felt something was off and hung up. Definitely a scam! The person spoke with a very polished and articulate English accent.

They called me by name and said sorry that the vacuum repair wasn’t possible, then offered a full refund of £136. She asked if I wanted the cash sent to my current or savings account. Since my vacuum’s actually fine, I just humoured her for a bit. I picked current account but she said she couldn’t get my details unless I gave them. Then she passed me to someone else straight away, who came on and quickly asked for my bank info. That’s when I just hung up. Total scam. The caller spoke really clearly and confidently with a posh English accent.

Got a call saying they'd overbilled me for my washing machine insurance. I said I don't even have any warranty, so that's sorted then. She carried on speaking but then the call just cut off. Definately feels like one of those dodgy scams. Plus, who calls for refunds at 10:01 on a Sunday? No legit insurance firm would be that keen to get money back and ring so early on a weekend.

Totally a refund scam. They wanted my bank info, but I said I don’t have a bank account. Then they tried saying the refund was under my hubby’s name. He’s supposed to call again in a couple of hours, even though I’ve blocked the number. If he does, he’s in for a surprise when he meets the bloke of the house!

Totally a refund scam. They kept asking for my bank info, but I said I don’t even have a bank account. Then they switched it up saying the refund’s under my husband’s name. He’s apparently calling back in a couple hours, even though I’ve blocked their number. Good luck to him if he actually talks to the head of the household here.

Got a call from a woman with a strong foreign accent, her English wasn’t great. She said she was ringing from Home Appliance and that I was owed a refund on my washing machine warranty because of some overpayment. When I questioned when I bought the machine, she guessed "2 or 3 years ago," but I know it was much longer back. I told her straight up she was trying to scam me. She kept insisting she wasn't, claiming she hadn’t asked for any bank or card info so it couldn’t be fraud. I just cut her off while she kept babbling about not being a scammer.

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying I was owed a refund for my washing machine insurance from Homecare. She kept claiming she had all my details but never actually verified anything or told me who she really was. The only thing she seemed keen on was getting my bank information. Since I don’t even have insurance with Homecare, I instantly knew it was dodgy. Plus, the number she called from wasn’t the same as the one listed on Homecare’s official website.

This number has called me about five times now, each time it's different voices with foreign accents saying I’m owed a refund. I’ve tried every trick, like blowing a whistle down the receiver and dragging out the convo to waste their time, even leaving them waiting on hold, but none of it stops them. They just keep ringing back - it’s honestly getting to be a real nuisance.
