Received a call claiming I had entered a competition to snag a Samsung Galaxy phone. The thing is, I’ve never signed up for any such contest! They insisted I must have, as that’s how they got my information, but it’s simply not the case. To top it off, there was a cacophony of background noise, sounding like they were in a bustling room full of chatter. I got a call from a lady with an Indian accent saying I’d won some EuroMillions tickets. She claimed if I really won, she wouldn’t be asking for anything except maybe some chocolates. She mentioned GDPR and insisted she wouldn’t want my full card info like the number, expiry, or CVV, but she did ask for my sort code and account number - said it could be from any bank like Monzo, Barclays or Lloyds. When I told her I couldn’t find my wallet, she asked if I was scared. I kept her on the line for ages. When I told her to ring me back later she sounded a bit annoyed.
