The caller insisted that I’d spoken to them back in December 2017, claiming it was a rather busy period for me. When I asked for a recording of this alleged exchange, he maintained that I had indeed spoken to them and began to get quite confrontational when I reiterated that I had zero recollection of ever doing so. The whole situation reeked of a scam! Initially, he seemed quite professional, even attempting to jog my memory in a rather persuasive manner. But once I mentioned that I wished to end the conversation, his tone shifted abruptly. The gentleman seemed to be familiar with my name and claimed we had a conversation last year. To my surprise, he also mentioned my birth month and year as a sort of password I had supposedly provided him. He was after £99.00, stating that I could reclaim it through some business accounts. I firmly told him that I had never discussed anything like this previously, and abruptly ended the call. Shortly after, the same number rang me again, but I chose to let it ring.
