I got a call claiming to be from 02, but it was a total scam. They even tried to scare me by saying they'd block my SIM if I didn’t give info, but I didn’t fall for it. Don’t share any details with them!

Got a call from a girl with a really poor grasp of English, saying she was calling from O2. She told me my SIM would be suspended for a couple of days because O2 is joining up with Virgin soon. When I said it’s alright and no worries, she went quiet for a bit, then started going on about sending me a new SIM with the same number or something like that.

Beware of these fraudsters pretending to be from O2, and they use the Wavecrest phone network to do their dirty work. If you want to report them, you can drop a complaint to: [email protected]

Got a call from that number just now, had a chat that went on for about five minutes. They were saying my sim card was blocked and honestly, the number looked pretty genuine. I ended up putting the number into this site and realised it was a scam. So I got a bit annoyed and kept telling the woman she was fibbing... Can’t believe the call dragged on that much, haha!

This number rang me today but I didn’t pick up, just let it go to voicemail and nothing was left. I usually don’t answer unknown callers now. After that, I searched the number on Google and found this site. Really appreciate you guys sharing your stories here, it’s really helpful!

Got a call from a lady saying she was with Virgin Mobile, saying there’s been some problems with SIM cards ever since they joined up with O2. She said mine would be blocked tomorrow but they’d send me a new one by post that very day, and that there’d be a 30% discount. Then she passed me onto a bloke who said exactly the same thing. I told him I’d looked up the number online and it’s linked to a scam, and that I’d ring Virgin myself to sort it out!

I got a call from someone who wouldn’t tell me the company’s name or where they’re based. They were quite nasty and kept saying that it was useless to ask them to stop calling because they ‘would never give up’. They kept pushing me for my personal info and wouldn’t take no for an answer until I finally just ended the call.

Got a call saying it was O2, claiming there was a system upgrade and my SIM would stop working soon. They offered to send me a new SIM with a 30% discount. They asked if I was the account holder, which I'm not, so that felt off. When I asked them how they could verify they were really O2, they said they’d check last month’s bills. I ended the call and went straight to my local O2 shop. They told me O2 never make these types of calls and warned it was definitely a scam, advising me to block the number immediately.

Some lady rang up with an Indian accent, started off by asking how I was. Then she threw in this sarcastic comment like she was fine too and thanks for asking or whatever. Eventually she launched into that old tale about my O2 SIM being about to get cut off unless I gave her my details so she could send a new one. I told her nicely that I know this is a scam, and that my provider always tells me they haven’t called before I ended the call.
