I received a call earlier today purporting to be from the local council, claiming they were looking into an incident involving an accident.

I got a call where the person first said they were from the council, then suddenly said it was a NHS call about an accident. I asked, "So you're not actually with the council then?" After that, the caller just kept yelling "f### you, put the phone down" again and again. Really weird experience.

Some bloke rings up claiming he’s from Durham County Council, saying he's calling about an NHS accident or something. I made him go over what he said like three times, which he clearly hated. Then I told him I was certain he wasn’t really working for Durham County Council. That’s when he lost it and shouted, “f##k you and get lost, you f#cking bastard,” before hanging up. Proper funny, haha.

Got a call from 02035600001 who claimed to be from Basildon Council, talking about some accident. I was straight onto them, told the guy I wasn’t daft and that I’d be reporting the call to the police. The caller, an Asian bloke, hung up sharpish after that.

Someone rang claiming to be from Swansea council about a crash i’d supposedly been involved in. i told them i hadn’t had any accident with a car. they then said maybe it was someone in my family. i said no, i live alone. after that, they muttered sorry and ended the call. seemed really fishy to me!

Today I got a call and my son picked up, but he didn't quite get what was going on so he handed me the phone. The person on the other end then went on to call my son a joker and told me to go f*** myself.

Claimed to be from Norfolk County looking into an accident! I confronted him, asking, 'You’re not genuinely affiliated with NCC, are you?’ To which he replied, ‘How on earth did you figure that out?’
I suppose the fact that the number was a London one was a bit of a giveaway, though I can't quite put my finger on it!

This has been such a nightmare and honestly pretty scary. Normally I’m quite careful with these calls, but this bloke wouldn’t stop going on about some accident I supposedly had. Then he started quizzing me for all sorts of personal stuff that he ought to already have. I just stopped answering after that coz he seemed to get really hostile. Makes me worried sick about what someone who’s less tough might have to deal with from these nasty scammers!

someone phoned saying the nhs told them i'd been in a car crash that wasn’t my fault. i told them i hadn’t been in one and asked how they got my number, and they just said the nhs. i wasn’t happy with them having my number and asked if they had any other info on me. they said no, just the number. this dragged on for a bit, and since i had a moment to spare for like 5 mins, i just messed around and wasted a bit of their time.

Got a call today from this number saying they were from Evesham Town Council. They claimed someone using my landline had reported an accident, which is total rubbish and they just called out of the blue.

Received a call earlier today, on the 13th of September, 2016. The caller requested my vehicle registration, claiming it was needed for their records regarding an accident I supposedly had. When I responded that I hadn’t been in any sort of accident, he insisted that their records indicated otherwise. I pressed him on the source of this information, and he rambled on about some government accident records office. However, when I requested the contact details for this department, he suddenly stated that such information wasn’t available to the public. I informed him that was absolute nonsense, as all government entities should be accessible to everyone. In the end, I decided to terminate the call.

Got a call earlier today, 13th Sept 2016. The person asked me for my car’s registration, claiming it was connected to an accident I supposedly had. I told them I hadn’t been in any accident, but they insisted their records showed otherwise. When I questioned where they got their info from, they started rambling about some government accident records office. Then, when I asked for a contact number for that place, they claimed it wasn’t available to the public. I told them that was nonsense since government offices are public services, and just ended the call.

Got a call earlier claiming to be from Bradford council. As soon as I asked for the caller’s name, they just dropped the call. The phone line was crackly and horrible too.

I got a call from someone claiming to be my local council about an accident. When I asked them who exactly they were after, they got all defensive. I pointed out that since they’d called me, they should know who they wanted, but they just went quiet. I told them I didn’t buy they were from the council because they couldn’t explain anything about the accident or even say who they were trying to reach. Then they just ended the call.

I received a call from someone purporting to be associated with the council in Bradford, inquiring if I had recently been in any sort of accident. They then proceeded to probe me with various personal questions. Just to clarify, any genuine call from Bradford council would originate from an 01274 number, and they certainly don’t engage in investigating accident claims. Very suspicious, if you ask me!
