I had a call from someone with an Asian accent, doing a sales pitch, and I told him straight away I’d already taken legal action against a company using the same tactics. I made it clear the number I answered on was ex-directory and signed up to the TPS, so I wasn’t interested in any sales calls. He insisted it wasn’t a sales call, and we went back and forth for a bit. I warned him his number is traceable and that I’d report the company he works for. I asked him to take me off their list, but he said he couldn’t. I told him again I’d be taking action and then he just hung up. These places hire people who really have no scruples, just reading from a script trying to grab as much info as they can to sell it on to others. It’s disgusting that the government lets these sorts of crooks carry on like this.

I gave them a ring back and asked to speak to their supervisor. She said that even though I’m on the TPS, that doesn’t block calls that aren’t for sales purposes. I explained that if I start answering their questions, I’ll end up getting more sales calls that I really don’t want. So I told her to take me off their list right away. She promised to do so... but I’m not holding my breath! Oh, and not shocked at all, turns out they’re based in India!
