Our business got flooded with around 60 to 80 calls in just thirty minutes. It had to be some kind of automated system because the calls arrived way too fast for anyone to be manually calling back. Each call was from a different person, and, to top it off, a few were really quite unpleasant.

Got a call while I was at work, I asked him how he found my work number and he just went on calling me a "F**king idiot" two times and then just ended the call. Watch out for this one.

This bloke called saying he was Alex and wanted to talk about a car accident I’d been in. I told him I hadn’t had any accident but he kept saying it was my husband involved. I explained my husband died over 15 years ago. Then he switched to saying it was my partner, and when I told him no, he started swearing at me, asking what kind of rubbish life I had. I told him his language was awful and just hung up. I’m on the TPS, like many others, and I’ll definitely be reporting this annoying caller to them.

Called by some bloke claiming to be from an accident advice line. I told him straight up he was dodgy and I wasn’t going to waste my time, then I just ended the call.

When they rang a third time, I told them I was from Microsoft and was spotting a virus on their system. A very polite chap with an Eastern accent rang me at 4:47pm, saying he was calling about a recent car crash I’d been in. I told him I hadn’t been in any accident for more than 20 years. After that, he just ended the call. I tried ringing back to let him know my number’s ex-directory and to ask them to take me off their list or I’d report them for unsolicited calls. But like before, the number went to a voicemail box that was apparently full. This was actually the second time I’ve had a call like this in just two days.

My work place has about 250 phones and suddenly they all ring, one after the other. Some bloke says he’s with Accident Direct and claims I’d been in a crash. He went on for a bit and I told him he was spot on, then when he asked what really happened, I said I’d just started up the PC when suddenly - boom! Windows XP gave me one of those dreaded blue screen errors. Didn’t make him laugh though, he just cut me off :(.
