I received a call from someone who had a strong foreign accent, purporting to be from the BT Telephone Preference Service, trying to sell me an ‘upgrade’. They inquired about my age-cagey questions about whether I was under 9 or over 75-before they attempted to coax my debit card information out of me. That was when I decided enough was enough and hung up. The name they mentioned didn’t stick in my mind, but it was evident that this was a scam.
