I received a rather dubious call from someone claiming to be with Virgin Mobile/Broadband, who insisted that my IP address was being used in a fraudulent manner. My son, who is a software developer, configured our internet setup to be as secure as it possibly could be. It’s clear this was nothing more than a scam!

Received a call from someone with a noticeable Indian accent claiming to represent BT. Interestingly, the phone number in question is associated with a UK clothing brand, SJL Garments. To add to the oddity, if you visit their site, you’re met with a phishing page! It makes one wonder - have they fallen prey to hacking, or is their t-shirt venture just not cutting it financially?

So this bloke started off claiming he was from my bank’s security team. I let him ramble for a bit, then he switched to saying he was from the Visa department. He said there was a £123 transaction headed to California and asked if I’d made it. I asked which bank he was calling from, and he replied the bank’s security dept. When I pressed him again, he tried to say it was the Visa dept for all banks. I told him to quit trying to con people and just hung up.
