Then, after a short, suspicious pause, he said he needed to "consult with his manager", only to come back with an offer for an iPhone 12 Pro Max at £30, featuring unlimited minutes, texts, and data. Right, mate. When I queried about a "holding fee" of £30, I asked if this deal was advertised on their site. He just droned on about the fee instead. Out of the blue, he mentioned that this offer was only available for folks with stellar credit ratings? How intriguing, so I pressed him on how he had my credit score and even my name if that was the case. After a bit of amusing back-and-forth, I got fed up with his nonsense and hit mute.
