This was definitely a con. I got a call from a woman who sounded really convincing, saying she was from United Utilities with a new offer for emergency plumbing cover. She was really pushing to get my bank details, like sort code and account number. I didn’t give anything and rang United Utilities directly using the number on my bills. After chatting with them, it turned out the call I got was a total scam. Honestly, never share your bank info if someone rings you unexpectedly and you can’t check their identity yourself. Stay safe!
