Got a call from someone claiming to be with Carphone Warehouse, turned out to be a total scam from India. When I mentioned his strong Indian accent and told him that cold calling is against the law here in the UK, he got really rude. Then, to top it off, he rang me back after just five minutes and started being abusive. Proper dodgy behaviour.

unfamiliar number just buzzed briefly. ive been expecting a call from lastminute but this wasn’t it. figured id get an email if they tried and missed me but nothing so far. bit rubbish from lastminute if that’s how they work, maybe ringing then not leaving a message so they can dodge refunds? if that’s their game plan, they’re gonna lose a lot of customers quick as people wont trust booking through them anymore.

Safe, bravofly. I was asked for payment info for a luggage request I made on the site for my booking. I gave them my backup card details but only with the exact amount needed. She told me to type the card number and EVC on the keypad and not to say it out loud. But for the cardholder name and expiry date, I had to say them out loud. The payment went through right away, and it was just the amount she said (34 euros for luggage). I've been checking my account since and no other money has been taken, so it seems legit.

Today in the afternoon, I got a call from a woman with a South Asian accent saying she was from lastminute.com about my holiday in May. She quickly demanded my email address to “confirm security” which sounded off. I tried asking her for details about the trip to verify she was really from lastminute.com, but she said due to data protection laws she couldn’t share any info. So I asked her to send a confirmation email instead, to the address they had on record. I checked my inbox later but found nothing from lastminute.com. Definitely seems like a scam to me.

Earlier today, I received a rather peculiar phone call during the afternoon. A woman with a distinct South Asian accent introduced herself as representing Last Minute dot com, mentioning something about a holiday I supposedly booked for May. She quickly insisted that I provide my email address for 'security purposes'. Feeling a bit uneasy, I probed her for more details regarding this so-called holiday to verify her identity, but she refused to share anything, citing data protection regulations as her reason. In a final attempt to authenticate her claim, I suggested she drop me an email at the address they should have on file, hoping to receive something that would confirm her legitimacy.
