020 3971 3376 - JUST GOT A SCAM CALL ON MY MOBILE IN STOCKTON ON TEES. An automated voice claiming to be from HMRC saying I needed to press 1 or I'd be arrested for supposed tax fraud and a warrant would be sent. I tried calling their bluff saying go ahead and issue it since no one was actually there, then the call just dropped. Pretty dodgy if you ask me!

There’s no chance this call is really from London. It’s probably coming through a dodgy number linked to India. I’ve seen this number pop up with loads of scams over the last few months. Every time you get calls like this, make sure you report them to the police database. Just search for ‘action fraud’, then head over to the ‘police.uk’ website, find the ‘reporting’ part and mark it as phishing. You don’t even need to sign up.

Some bloke called saying he was from the tax office and that I was gonna be arrested for money laundering. I just told him to get on with it cause tax office never ring up like that. Blocked him straight away.

Just a heads up, you can’t block calls from 1572 on a BT landline unless you actually pick up, even if it’s just to say “no thanks,” or even if you answer and there’s only silence, if they’ve already connected the call.

Got a call from someone who never said what company they were with. They asked about washing machine cover but called my wife's mobile even though the machine is registered to me. Felt a bit fishy, so we just blocked the number straight away.

got a call today about renewing the warranty on my washing machine - they already had my name, phone number and address. they said i needed to pay £75 over the phone because my warranty ends today - which it actually doesn’t. the caller didn’t even know the brand or model of my machine, just the store i bought it from. i asked them to send me the info in writing so i could check it out properly - they said no, payment had to be made immediately over the phone, preferably by debit card. this set off alarm bells so i ended the call straight away.
