Phoned my elderly mate today, saying they were from a local company and her loft insulation was fiberglass, offering a quote to replace it. Sadly she believed them and mentioned she lives in a ground floor flat, so their details were clearly off. I told her next time if it happens again, to keep them talking to see what else they might say.

He mentioned that my wife had apparently got in touch with them. Totally rubbish and a blatant scam. We’ve never had any asbestos insulation in our loft and I told him that a few times. Then he half-mockingly wished me a good day and hung up. Definitely a con. (We’re on the TPS list but it doesn’t seem to stop calls like this.)

Got a call from a bloke about loft insulation, reckoned the details he had said my place had old insulation. Told him that wasn’t right anymore and his info was old. He just said, “Cheers, I’ll sort that out” and then hung up. That was that.

Got a cold call from a bloke claiming he was assigned to the Crawley and Horsham area to check houses for fibreglass insulation, and then pitch some Icynene spray foam insulation. For a bit, I actually thought he was from the council, but then he finally admitted he wasn’t. Turns out he’s some so-called chartered surveyor. I let someone listen to the call, and they reckoned loads of what he said was just rubbish.

Had a rather unexpected cold call earlier! A chap claimed he was working in the Crawley and Horsham vicinity, conducting surveys on homes to check if they had fibreglass insulation, all to promote Icynene spray foam insulation. For a moment, I was under the impression he was part of the Council's inspection team, but he soon cleared that up - he wasn’t affiliated with them at all. I had my mate, a Chartered Surveyor, on the line and he quickly pointed out that much of what the caller was saying was quite dubious at best. Quite the cheek, really!
