I didn’t give them an answer and they kept pressing. The approach was quite forceful yet very persuasive, trying to make me spill the info they wanted. I got a call from this firm claiming they could supply a pension report, even for schemes where I didn’t get yearly statements anymore, mentioning options tied to the new pension freedoms that started in April. I suspected it might be a pension scam straight away. So I asked if they could help me get access to my pension even though I’m under 55. The person on the phone said they couldn’t personally do that but that an adviser could. When I pressed if they had an FCA-regulated financial adviser in-house, he said yes. I told them I already have an adviser and gently ended the chat, but the caller cut me off very quickly after that. Later, I looked up their website and it clearly says that the Pension Report Centre is NOT FCA regulated and only acts as a promoter or introducer to authorised pension advisers. This feels very dodgy. I’d be watchful, it really could be a pension scam.
