I received a rather puzzling call supposedly from British Gas, stating they needed to service my gas meter. However, when I probed them further, it became evident they had no details on my account at all-no email address, no previous correspondence, just the number they dialled. The tone shifted quite abruptly; they turned rather confrontational, insisting I provide my email and account name. It struck me as odd; I would have thought they'd possess this information if they were indeed representing British Gas!

Fraudulent Call Alert!

I received a rather dubious phone call purportedly from British Gas, insisting they needed to service my gas meter. Oddly enough, they had zero details about my account-no emails, no personal info, just this phone number. When I started to ask questions, they became quite confrontational, pushing for my email and account name. It struck me as highly suspicious; if they were indeed from British Gas, wouldn’t they already have that information at their fingertips? Definitely something amiss here!

I have a hunch that this lot are ringing up pretending it’s all about upgrading your meter, but I reckon they haven't got a leg to stand on when it comes to offering you that service. They behave as if it’s something you’re already tied into with your current contract. Do tread carefully, and don’t hesitate to grill them with plenty of questions before diving in!
