I had a rather unsettling experience earlier when I got a recorded message stating that a letter from HMRC had been sent back. It instructed me to press 1 to connect with an advisor or face potential legal action. When I dialled the number back, the individual on the other end didn’t verify his connection to HMRC and just kept insisting on my name. I can't shake off the feeling that these are dodgy calls trying to scam folks.
